Welcome to Samplist, an online resource dedicated to sample-based music. Samplist was created in 1996 with the goals of documenting the current state of sampling and establishing the sampler as a legitimate instrument by introducing the concept of "Samplists" as musicians. In addition to many resources, Samplist is proud to host CONTENT ; A Los Angeles based label committed to furthering the art of beatmaking.

A samplist is a musician that uses the sampler as their sole musical instrument, rather than playing the notes on the instrument that the sounds were derived from. This is done by storing the sounds into a sampler's memory bank, and then arranging the sounds with a sequencer to create a composition. In most cases this is done in conjunction with a turntable.
